TNT DYNAMITE SOCCER CLUB NEWSU17 Girls Fall in Final of Veterans Invitational Tournament The TNT Dynamite u17 girls team reached the final of the Veterans Invitational Tournament in Evansville, IN but fell to a strong team from Naperville, Illinois in the championship game. The TNT u17 girls swept their group with victories over Thoroughbreds SC (Kentucky), Wild Cats Futbol Club (Indiana) and GSSC (Michigan), outscoring their opponents 9-1 enroute to a second play finish. The team also won first place in their fall premier division. Congratulations girls! Former TNT Standout Mia Miller Leads U of M Women's Club Team to National Finals Mia Miller, who played six years for the TNT Dynamite '89 Girls, is the leading scorer of the women's club team at the University of Michigan, which is ranked #2 in the region. The team will compete in the NIRSA National Collegiate Soccer Sports Championship from Nov. 15-17 in Pensacola, Florida. Miller, a freshmen at U of M, leads her team in goals and assists and was featured in the Lansing State Journal's Prep Sports Blog (click HERE for more information). TNT Coaches Earn Licenses This Summer Congratulations to TNT coaches listed below on earning new coaching licenses this past summer: Bill Boyle: USSF National "B" License Eric DeLonge: USSF National "C" License, US Youth Soccer National Youth License Stacy Heller: US Youth Soccer National Youth License Ryan Hosler: US Youth Soccer National Youth License Danny Price: US Youth Soccer National Youth License 5 TNT teams win championships at 2nd Annual Michigan Challenge Cup The 2nd Annual Michigan Challenge Cup tournament -- organized by the TNT Dynamite Soccer Club -- brought 76 teams from Michigan, Indiana and Canada to Lansing for a weekend of high-level soccer. Congratulations to the following TNT teams for their tournament championships: U12 girls: defeated LOBOS 2-1 in the finals and went undefeated the entire weekend U17 girls: defeated West Michigan Fire 2-1 in the finals U18 girls: defeated TSC Nova 1-0 in the finals U13 boys: defeated West Michigan Fire 2-1 in the finals U14 boys: defeated US River Plate 1-0 in the final after penalty kicks Congratulations to the TNT Dynamite Soccer Club for earning the most "club points" and being named Club Champion. U10 and U11 girls victorious at Canton Cup Congratulations to the TNT u10 and u11 girls teams for winning their respective groups at the 25th annual Canton Cup over Memorial Day weekend. The u10 girls defeated the Lapeer Galaxy 2-1 in the final and went 4-0 for the weekend. The u11 girls, down 4-1 in the championship game, staged a remarkable comeback to win the championship 5-4 in overtime against the NMSC Storm. Congratulations to both teams!
TNT u11 girls celebrate their championship U14 boys advance to State Cup semifinals Congratulations to the TNT u14 boys for advancing to the State Cup semifinals. The team defeated Waza in the quarterfinals but lost to Vardar the following day. The boys are the first team in club history to advance to the state's "final four." Congratulations boys! TNT announces partnership with Detroit Ignition The TNT Dynamite Soccer Club is proud to announce a partnership with the Detroit Ignition, Michigan’s only professional soccer team! The Detroit Ignition is in its inaugural season in the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) and plays its home games at Compuware Sports Arena in Plymouth; the team is hosting and playing in the league's championship game on Saturday April 21. U10 girls crowned champions at Jaguar Invitational; U12 girls white finalists in "elite" division Congratulations to TNT's u10 girls team for winning their division at the Jaguar Invitational in Novi, MI May 11-13. The girls won all four of their games enroute to first place. The u12 girls white team were finalists, having lost 2-1 in the championship game of the Elite division. Congratulations girls on a strong showing! Inaugural College Scholarship winners honored at club golf outing Over 50 golfers participated in the club's second annual Scholarship Golf Outing, held Friday May 11 at the Wheatfield Golf Course in Williamston. Following the 18 hole scramble, Ashley Swartz (Laingsburg High School, TNT '89 girls) and Andrew Worden (Holt High School, TNT '89 boys) were honored as the club's inaugural scholarship winners. Both Ashley and Andrew will attend the Honors College at Michigan State University next year. Thanks to all of our golfers and volunteers, and congratulations Ashley and Andrew! Montele has coached previously with Lansing Everett High School, Brighton Soccer Club, Hartland Soccer Club and Phoenix Soccer Club, and has a USSF "B" License. Ryan previously coached with CA United, serves as the Director of Coaching for the East Lansing Soccer Club, and has a USSF "C" License. Welcome Montele and Ryan! U14, U17 and U18 boys make State Cup Quarterfinals The u14, u17 and u18 boys teams earned berths in the quarterfinals of State Cup (the "Elite Eight" of the state-wide tournament) and will play in Saginaw on May 19. TNT is the only Mid-Michigan club to send teams this spring to the quarterfinals, and is one of only eight clubs in the state to send multiple teams. This is the second year in a row in which TNT has earned multiple quarterfinal berths. Congratulations boys! TNT's Dan Raben earns USSF "A" license Dan Raben, TNT Dynamite Soccer Club General Manager, received his United States Soccer Federation "A" license. Dan traveled to Los Angeles for the course and trained at the Home Depot Center (home to Major League Soccer's Los Angeles Galaxy) at the end of March. TNT is the only club in Mid-Michigan with two USSF "A" licensed coaches. Congratulations Dan! TNT's Luka Shaqiri honors former player with "Footballer of the Year" award from Albaniasoccer.com TNT Dynamite Soccer Club Technical Consultant Luka Shaqiri recently honored Erjon Bogdani, his former player, with Albaniasoccer.com's "Footballer of the Year" award in Italy following the Chievo Verona-Sampdoria match. Erjon plays for Chievo Verona in the Serie A (Italy's top professional league) and credits Luka for his development and success. To read the complete story, click HERE. Todd Derby named head coach of West Michigan Firewomen Todd Derby, club director of coaching and player development, was recently named head coach of the W-League's West Michigan Firewomen. The W-League is the highest level of women's soccer in the US and Canada. The Firewomen team will feature current and former collegiate standouts, including players from Michigan State University, Western Michigan University, and NCAA Division 2 finalist Grand Valley State University. Congratulations Todd! TNT and US Soccer Passback Program a Success Throughout January, the TNT Dynamite Soccer Club and US Soccer collected new and used soccer gear at the Lansing Indoor Sports Arena. At the end of this drive, over 450 soccer items were donated, including 70 pairs of shoes, 140 pairs of socks, and 75 shorts. The items will be donated to the Lansing Parks and Recreation Department's soccer program. Bill Boyle named to Boys ODP Staff Bill Boyle, head coach of the u11 and u18 boys TNT Dynamite teams, was recently named to the coaching staff of the Michigan boys Olympic Development Program. Bill will serve as the assistant coach with the 1990 age group. Bill joins Todd Derby, Stacy Heller and Dan Raben as TNT coaches on ODP staff. Congratulations Bill! Inaugural College Scholarship announced The TNT Dynamite Soccer Club proudly announces its inaugural College Scholarship. The scholarship is for graduating seniors; a male and female applicant will be selected. Applications must be submitted to the club office by February 9, 2007. For an application and information on the scholarship process, click HERE. U15 and U18 Boys teams accepted into Midwest Regional League Congratulations to the TNT U15 and U18 Boys teams for being accepted into the Midwest Regional League for the spring 2007 season. The Midwest Regional League is the most competitive league in the Midwest; teams must be approved by their state soccer association before participating. Both teams may face opponents from Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio and Wisconsin. It is the first time in the club's history in which two teams were accepted into the MRL. Congratulations boys! U12 Girls fall in shootout at Veterans Invitational Tournament in Evansville The TNT Dynamite U12 girls team won its group at the Veterans Invitational Tournament in Evansville, Indiana November 11-12, but lost the championship game in a shootout to the West Kentucky Youth Soccer Club. The girls won their group with a 3-0 record, outscoring their opponents 14-3 enroute to the championship game. Congratulations girls!
