TNT Dynamite Soccer Club History

The TNT Dynamite Soccer Club was launched in the fall of 1999 with the goal of training and developing Mid-Michigan’s best players by providing the finest coaching available.  As the club celebrates and completes its sixth year of operation, and prepares for the start of its seventh year, its many accomplishments and accolades prove that this goal was and will continue to be accomplished.

The club began with one team in its inaugural season and grew to four the following year.  An expansion to ten teams followed in 2001 and fifteen teams were offered a year later.  This rapid growth in highly competitive and well-coached teams continued for the 2003-04 and 2004-05 soccer years, as the club offered boys and girls teams in nearly every age group (U10-U18) and opened its Dynamite Soccer Academy for Mid-Michigan’s youngest soccer players. The club will field teams in every age group (multiple teams in some ages) for the 2005-06 soccer year.

In its short history, the TNT Dynamite Soccer Club has accomplished numerous feats including:

  • Acceptance and Participation in the Midwest National League
  • Several teams playing in the top divisions of the Michigan State Premier Soccer League
  • Countless tournament wins, including multiple Best of the Midwest, Bay Challenge Cup (Cleveland), Jaguar Invitational, and Canton Cup titles
  • Advancement into the State Cup Quarterfinals (the Elite Eight of the State)
  • Attracting college coaches and recruiters to many players
  • Consistently placing players in each Olympic Development Program (ODP) age group
  • Acceptance and Participation in the Michigan Nationals

The TNT Dynamite Soccer Club also stands out in offering the area’s best and brightest coaching staff.  Under the direction of Todd Derby, who holds a USSF “A” License, the club’s coaching staff -- including ODP coaches, college coaches, MSYSA Instructional Staff Members, and some of the top high school coaches in the area – are USSF-certified and is the most credentialed staff in the area.

As the club continues to grow in size and success, the pool of players has expanded to include families from not just East Lansing, Okemos, Mason, Holt, and Haslett but also Grand Rapids, Jackson, Midland, Owosso, Saginaw, and Brighton.  The club continues to attract the top talent in the Mid-Michigan area with the finest coaching available.  Members of the TNT Dynamite Family -- from coaches to players to parents -- are committed to achieving their success with integrity, character and sportsmanship.  TNT Dynamite is not just a name known through Lansing; the entire state of Michigan along with the Midwest region have taken notice and have accepted its arrival as a perennial power in youth soccer.
